Folsom Police Officers Association Endorses Jim Ortega for City Council

Folsom, CA — Planning commissioner and longtime law enforcement officer, Jim Ortega, has received the endorsement of the Folsom Police Officers Association (FPOA) in his 2024 campaign for the Folsom City Council.
In their endorsement letter, FPOA President John Triplett wrote “Jim’s vision aligns seamlessly with the aspirations of Folsom residents for a safe, inclusive, and thriving community. The Folsom Police Officers Association proudly endorses Jim Ortega for City Council, District 4, and urges all residents to support his candidacy. With Jim’s leadership, we are confident that Folsom will remain a safe, vibrant, and prosperous community for generations to come.”
Ortega launched his campaign for City Council last month, with the support of current and former elected leaders, including Assemblyman Josh Hoover, Folsom City Councilmember Rosario Rodriguez, Sacramento County Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan (ret.), Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones (ret.), Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness (ret.), Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert (ret.).
Ortega served with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office from 1988 to 2017. From 2017 through 2020, Jim served as the chief of police for the Placerville Police Department. Ortega currently serves on the Folsom Planning Commission, has been a member of the Rotary Club of Folsom since 2015, a previous member and board member of the Active 20-30 of Sacramento #1, and a board member of the Northern California Peace Officers Association. Ortega earned his Master of Science in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
